Projects
From restoring historic facades to launching downtown events and supporting small businesses, our work is hands-on and deeply rooted in Taos. Each initiative reflects our commitment to revitalizing downtown through meaningful, visible change, whether it’s activating public spaces, improving walkability, or empowering entrepreneurs. These projects bring our mission to life, block by block.

Downtown Walkability Initiative
Walkable streets, alleyways, and strong connectivity are fundamental building blocks of a successful downtown. They encourage a vibrant downtown and create a strong, local economy.

Historic Downtown Wayfinding
Taos MainStreet has been working with New Mexico MainStreet (Amy Bell, a Revitalization Specialist in Landscape Architecture and Urban Design, and Cam Wilde and Julia Royal, Revitalization Specialists in Graphic Design and Marketing); and the Town of Taos to develop a new family of signs for historic downtown Taos.

Traffic Utility Box Art
Taos MainStreet was awarded a NM Clean and Beautiful Grant, along with funding from the Town of Taos, to beautify the traffic utility boxes at 18 locations in Taos.

Façade Improvement Program
The Façade Improvement Program (FIP) is an established framework that other MainStreet communities use to improve exterior, street-facing facades.
