FAQ’s
What is Meet Me at McCarthy’s?
Meet Me at McCarthy’s (MMM) is a free weekly walk, jog, or run event held every Monday evening from 5–7 PM in downtown Taos. It’s designed to bring people of all ages together for outdoor movement, community connection, and wellness in an inclusive, non-competitive setting.
When and where does it take place?
The program runs every Monday from May 19 to September 29, 2025, at McCarthy Plaza, just steps from the historic Taos Plaza. Participants can arrive between 4:30 and 5 PM to check in.
Is it free to participate?
Yes! The event is completely free and open to all ages. Leashed dogs are welcome too.
Do I have to run?
Not at all. You can choose your pace and distance — 1, 2, or 3-mile routes are available. Whether you walk, jog, or run, the goal is movement and community, not speed or competition.
Do I need to register in advance?
No pre-registration is required. Just show up and check in at one of the tablet stations on-site. First-time participants will complete a quick form with name, email, shirt size, and a waiver acknowledgment.
How does check-in work?
Check-in begins at 4:30 PM at McCarthy Plaza. Volunteers will help you sign in electronically. You'll receive a stamp, a raffle ticket, and a red blinking safety light to wear during your walk/run. Return the light at the end of the event.
What’s included each week?
Clearly marked routes with maps
Water stations along the way
Music by live DJs or bands
A community raffle at 6:30 PM
Occasional snacks (for humans and pets!)
Is this a competitive event?
Nope. MMM is non-competitive and non-compulsory. You can go at your own pace, choose your distance, or simply come to enjoy the music and atmosphere.
Are there prizes or incentives?
Yes! We love consistency:
Attend 7 events: receive a one-of-a-kind Meet Me at McCarthy’s t-shirt
Attend 14 events: earn a unique MMM hat
Attend all 20 events: receive a special pin and public recognition
Attendance rolls over year-to-year, so your efforts are never lost.
Who organizes the event?
Meet Me at McCarthy’s is organized and hosted by Taos MainStreet and powered by Taos Pueblo Athletics, the LOR Foundation, local volunteers and community leaders.
What if I don’t want to follow the mapped route?
That’s fine! While we provide suggested loops through downtown Taos, self-guided exploration is encouraged. Just be mindful of safety, stay visible, and follow pedestrian rules.
Will the event happen every Monday no matter what?
The event is scheduled weekly, but exceptions may be made for holidays or major community events. Any changes will be announced ahead of time.
How does this event support the Taos community?
MMM encourages wellness, builds community connections, supports local businesses, and fosters partnerships with schools, nonprofits, and local leaders. It’s about showing up, together.
